Yesterday I had my eyes examined and the optometrist took a photo of the inside of my eyes. It cost twenty bucks but it was almost worth it because earlier today I saw a photo of an eye parasite and I can be sure I don’t have one. It was almost worth the twenty clams because I then realised if I did have one I could both see it and feel it, so this is more a parable on how it can be easy to overestimate the well being value of screening tests when considering them for yourself or evaluating them for wider adoption.
